Casa Família Oliveira Guimarães

Penela castle

In the town of Penela, 15 minutes drive away, you can visit the Penela Castle dating from the XI century.

Germanelo Castle

In the town of Rabaçal, half an hour drive away, you can visit the ruins of the Germanelo Castle on the crown of a hill. This castle was built in the XII century as part of the Coimbra defense system. From the car park, access to the ruin is done through a short but steep path. Views from the top are spectacular.

The Red Pyramid

The Ecumenical Temple Universalist is a temple for the spiritual reflection of people of different religions, open to non-believers, by promoting basic values of humanity and religions, as Truth, Goodness and Moral. Located in Miranda do Corvo (30 min drive).

Coimbra

For a day in the city, visit the fading façades of the University City of Coimbra, steeped in history and colonial charm. Coimbra is a city of manueline architecture, old cathedrals, old cafe bedecked squares and gardens, with narrow and lively cobbled streets winding from the riverfront up to the old university itself. Also a good place to appreciate the Portuguese traditional fado of Coimbra.
