Atlantic ocean beaches
We are around 1h15 drive away from the Atlantic Ocean where you can find long stretches of fine sandy beaches. Note however that the coast here can be quite windy and the sea is often rough.
Osso da Baleia
This is a stunning stretch of beach, away from any built up development, which never feels busy because of its size. The beach is reached via a boardwalk across the dunes. There is plenty of space to park, a small cafe, toilets and outdoor shower.
Figueira da Foz
The beaches on this bit of coast are enormous, with boardwalks in place to help you walk down from the street to the sea edge, across the very soft sand. There are also showers at intervals, on the beach.
